Jewar Airport Connectivity Project Gets Cabinet Approval with Revised CostJewar Airport Connectivity Project Gets Cabinet Approval with Revised Cost

Jewar Airport Connectivity Project Approved at ₹3,630 Crore – New High-Speed Corridor to Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

The Jewar Airport Connectivity Project has received a major boost after the Union Cabinet approved a revised cost of ₹3,630.77 crore for developing a dedicated road corridor linking the upcoming airport with major highways in the National Capital Region. The project will create a 31.42-kilometre greenfield connectivity route that will provide faster access to the airport from several key cities in the region.

This corridor will directly connect the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway spur from Delhi–Faridabad–Ballabhgarh–Sohna to the airport area in Jewar, significantly reducing travel time and improving logistics connectivity across NCR.

High-Speed Corridor to Improve Airport Access

The newly approved Jewar Airport Connectivity Project is designed to offer direct road access from South Delhi, Faridabad, and Gurugram to the upcoming airport. Once completed, travelers and cargo operators will be able to reach the airport through a high-speed corridor integrated with major transport networks.

The route will intersect with several important infrastructure corridors, including:

  • Eastern Peripheral Expressway
  • Yamuna Expressway
  • Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC)

These connections will create a multi-modal transport network, making the airport easily accessible for both passengers and freight movement.

Elevated Highway Section to Be Developed

A key component of the Jewar Airport Connectivity Project is the construction of an 11-kilometre elevated highway. This elevated stretch will form an important segment of the route linking the DND-Ballabhgarh bypass with the airport and further connecting it to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

The elevated structure will help manage urban traffic and ensure smooth movement through areas planned for high-density development under the Faridabad Master Plan 2031. The additional cost for this elevated portion is estimated at ₹689 crore, with the Haryana government contributing about ₹450 crore toward its construction.

Strategic Importance for NCR Development

The Jewar Airport Connectivity Project is expected to play a crucial role in the overall infrastructure growth of the National Capital Region. By linking the airport to expressways and freight corridors, the project will:

  • Reduce travel time to the airport
  • Improve cargo and logistics movement
  • Boost regional trade and investment

Support future urban development in surrounding areas

Infrastructure experts believe that improved connectivity will help transform the region around the airport into a major economic and logistics hub.

Boost for Noida International Airport Operations

The connectivity project comes at a time when the upcoming airport in Jewar is nearing operational readiness. Once flights begin, efficient road access will be essential to manage passenger traffic and cargo operations.

The new corridor will ensure faster connectivity between Delhi, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh, helping the airport function as a major aviation hub for northern India.
