Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a thorough Jewar Airport inspection ahead of the inauguration planned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 28, 2026. The high‑profile visit focused on final preparations and readiness checks at the Noida International Airport site in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar district.

During the visit, CM Yogi reviewed the construction progress, infrastructure setup, and security arrangements to ensure that all facilities are in place before the official launch event. Officials accompanying the chief minister participated in detailed briefings on terminal readiness, passenger services, and operational arrangements.

Major Development for Delhi‑NCR

The Noida International Airport also known as Jewar Airport is a major greenfield airport project in Uttar Pradesh. Once fully operational, it will be the second international airport serving the Delhi National Capital Region, after the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, and is strategically designed to improve regional air connectivity.

Built over a vast area near Jewar, the airport is expected to ease passenger and cargo traffic congestion in northern India and significantly boost economic development across the NCR by enhancing trade and travel links.

Inauguration by Prime Minister Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate Phase I of the airport project on March 28, 2026. The event will include the official opening of the passenger terminal and cargo facilities, marking a milestone in India’s aviation expansion.

The first phase of the project was developed under a public‑private partnership with investment support and modern infrastructure planning aimed at accommodating increasing air traffic in the region.

Strategic Importance

Industry analysts and government sources say that Jewar Airport will play a crucial role in relieving pressure on existing airports in northern India and enhance international flight connectivity in the years ahead.

Future development plans include expanding capacity to handle millions of passengers and integrating multi‑modal connections such as road and high‑speed transit systems.
