Delhi to Jewar Airport Bullet Train: Two Underground Stations Planned on Delhi–Varanasi Route

The Delhi to Jewar Airport bullet train project is set to transform transportation across the NCR region. Under the proposed Delhi–Varanasi high-speed rail corridor, two underground stations are expected to be built near Noida and the upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar, significantly improving connectivity between Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh.

This project will make it much faster and easier for passengers to reach the new international airport and other cities in Uttar Pradesh.

Delhi to Jewar Airport in Just 21 Minutes

One of the biggest advantages of the Delhi to Jewar Airport bullet train is the dramatic reduction in travel time. The high-speed rail line is expected to cover the distance between Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan and Noida International Airport in around 21 minutes, which currently takes much longer by road.

This fast connectivity will greatly benefit air travelers, business commuters, and tourists visiting the NCR region.

Two Underground Stations to Be Built

As part of the project, two stations are planned in Gautam Buddha Nagar district:

  • Noida Sector 148 Station – This will serve residents of Noida and Greater Noida.
  • Noida International Airport Station – This station will be constructed underground at the airport’s Ground Transportation Centre (GTC) to allow seamless access for passengers.

With this development, the upcoming airport could become India’s first airport directly connected by a bullet train network.

Delhi–Varanasi High-Speed Rail Corridor Overview

The Delhi–Varanasi high-speed rail corridor is one of India’s major upcoming bullet train projects after the Mumbai–Ahmedabad route. The corridor is planned to connect several major cities in Uttar Pradesh.

Important cities on the route include:

  • Noida
  • Jewar (Noida International Airport)
  • Mathura
  • Agra
  • Etawah
  • Kannauj
  • Lucknow
  • Ayodhya (via link)
  • Prayagraj
  • Varanasi

The total route length is expected to be over 800 km, and high-speed trains may run at speeds up to 350 km/h, reducing travel time between Delhi and Varanasi to around 4 hours.

Major Boost for Noida International Airport

The bullet train connection will play a crucial role in enhancing accessibility to Noida International Airport at Jewar, which is expected to become a major aviation hub in North India.

Key benefits include:

  • Faster airport access for Delhi and NCR residents
  • Better regional connectivity across Uttar Pradesh
  • Boost for tourism and business travel
  • Increased real estate and infrastructure growth around Noida and Jewar

Project Status and Future Plans

Authorities are currently preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and planning the final alignment of the corridor. Land acquisition for the project may begin in the coming years once approvals and surveys are completed.

Once operational, the Delhi to Jewar Airport bullet train will become a major milestone in India’s high-speed rail network.
